Biomass Supply versus Demand

Biomass Supply versus Demand2019-02-05T22:41:26+00:00

Project Description

There are lots of types of biomass that can be used to do lots of things such as make electricity or gas, heat water, create steam or warm air, but in this project CPH Ballarat is looking at making biomass from chipped waste wood.  There seems to be quite a lot of interest in using waste wood chips for energy, and increasing interest is often a precursor to increased demand, but when questions are asked about the supply of wood chips, things sometimes become murky.  It’s great if users have their own supply, like dead farm trees or waste wood from construction, demolition or manufacturing processes but some potential users want a supplier that they can buy the wood chips from.  CPH Ballarat is working on establishing supply specifications and sources to match and enhance the local demand for biomass.

Here is the first of a series of reports about waste wood chips as a biomass supply.  This report, Local Biomass Supply Specifications 2018 – Boucher Consultancy, is about wood chip specifications and we think it’s really interesting (but maybe we’re special)!
