CPH Ballarat is exploring the feasibility of retro-fitting renewable energy on the roof of a multi-tenanted commercial building. The energy will include solar, and possibly wind, in combination with the option of battery storage. CPH Ballarat will help with the design of a system that meets the needs of the six office tenants. This project will showcase the use of combined solar and wind power and how it can be retrofitted to an historic building. The benefits will include reduced energy costs and increased resale value, with some of the savings possibly directed towards a fund to maintain and restore the heritage features of the building; regular donations to a not-for-profit community group; and/or future funding of community power hubs. The benefits include employment during the installation phase and replacement of fossil fuel electricity with renewable energy.
